Off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula on the island of Jeju lives a unique and legendary people group. The Haenyo (HEN-ya) are women divers who make their living gathering and selling sea life from the ocean floor. Traditionally, these divers have been very resistant to the gospel.
Fifty-seven year old Mrs. Lee, who has been diving for forty years, is one of those who recently came to Christ. She is married with five children.
Pray that Mrs. Lee and the other new believers will follow the Lord in baptism and will continue to grow in their faith. Pray that they will be discipled and will reach out to other Haenyo with whom they work. Pray that this spiritual breakthrough will open the doors to reach others across the unevangelized island of Jeju.
