Take a look back and ponder all that has happened in the past two years. Now take a look forward and consider all that God can do on the journey ahead. The IMB’s 2-3 year journeyman program provides an opportunity for 21-29 year-olds to serve in a supported position that fits your calling and gifts.
Learn the language, dive into a new culture and get to know a people who haven’t yet heard the hope of Christ.
If you think cookie-cutter boring when you think of people in East Asia, think again. 1/5 of the world’s population lives here, scattered across a landscape that ranges from rural mountainous villages to crowded sea-side mega-cities.
The opportunities for you to serve here are just as varied, and we can’t wait to meet you and help match you to the right place for you.
What are the qualifications and requirements?
The Journeyman program is for 21-29 year olds who have never been married. Many journeymen come straight out after college, but not all do. Some sense God’s leading after starting other careers or jobs. You must have a bachelor’s degree to serve as a journeyman.
A sense of God’s leadership, active involvement in a Southern Baptist church, physical and emotional health are some of the other qualifications. Jump over to the IMB Going page to read more of the requirements and start the application.
Do you tell me where to go, or do I pick my job?
Which assignment you pick is ultimately your decision. However, we work closely with you through the process to help you find a job that matches your skill set and calling.
You can search some jobs online (Visit the search page, and select “Asia”), but you are also welcome to e-mail us at gochina@imb.org with questions specific to positions among East Asian peoples.
I’m ready to go! Sign me up!
Okay, that’s not a question, but we’re glad you are excited. We are too. It will probably take you about 9 months (give or take) to get through the application and screening process before you can head off to orientation. You can read about the process or begin the application online.
Please let us know if you have any questions specific to jobs among East Asia peoples at gochina@imb.org.
