With a little over 1.2 billion people, the Han are the largest ethnic group in the world. Possessing a rich, long history, the Han are very proud of their culture. The written Chinese language is one of the most striking characteristics of their culture, and the oral language is the planet's most spoken language.

The Han ethnic group consists of many different ethno-linguistic peoples with different styles of dress, unique foods, and different religious beliefs. However, while there are sharp differences between Han and non-Han, most tend to downplay the differences between subgroups of Han.

The Han place a strong emphasis on relationships (guanxi). Family ties are important, and who you know will often get you farther than what you can do or give. You cannot earn guanxi with money, but rather through trust and respect.
