When a guest comes to a She village, he might be asked to sing a song for the village residents. The She place high value on song and have frequent celebrations which include singing competitions. Visitors to a She home must place their umbrellas outside the home because placing an umbrella inside the door is a sign of death.

Women wear bright clothing, embroidered with colorful birds, flowers and geometric patterns. To complement their wardrobe, they often wear large sashes and bamboo hats. Lace is often used to trim clothing. Most girls coil their hair on top of their heads, tied with a red wool cord.

She families are organized by "ancestral temples" with people of the same surname. Each ancestral temple has a chief who settles disputes and handles the internal affairs of the clan.
