Take a walk in the Tibetan region, and you are bound to meet a yak or two along the way. Situated on "the roof of the world" in the Himalayas, the Tibetans have a unique and somewhat mysterious culture, although it has begun to open up to outside influence.

Tibetans are known for their branch of Buddhism, called Lamaism. Because Buddhism is so engrained in their culture, both their daily activities and special festivals reflect this influence. For example, in the fifth month of their calendar, they hold the Buddha-Unfolding festival, which is a festival to worship Buddhist statues. On each day of the 3-day festival, different statues are displayed for worship.
