Resolutions Worth Keeping
January 20, 2006

Happy New Year! Because making resolutions are a New Year’s tradition for many folks, this seems to be an appropriate time of year to focus on resolve. Take a few moments today to thank God for . . .

The resolve of itinerant Chinese pastors who survive on paltry wages and labor tirelessly so that their fellow countrymen in the far reaches of China can know Christ’s love.

The resolve of overseas workers who live for years on end in locations all throughout China to catalyze church planting movements in cities and among ethnic-minority groups.

The resolve of volunteers who spend their vacation time and hard earned money to make short-term trips to China to share the gospel of Christ.

The resolve of committed Chinese Christians who are willing to risk their very lives for the sake of the gospel.

Within the context of Christian work in China, resolve often involves raw determination, sacrifice, courage, and utter commitment to the cause of Christ. As you look at the needs of China’s one billion lost people, do you sense that God is calling you to make a special New Year’s resolution to pray, to give, or to serve in ways that will make an eternal difference?
